We Wrote A Book: It's Available For Preorders!

Back in 2020, we started working on a book to help other founders, executives, and senior leaders on their journey in management. Today we're thrilled to announce that the book is finally available for preorder. Read on for more on the cover and our journey!

Our book cover

There’s a German saying “an einem Strang ziehen,” which literally translates to “pulling together” or “acting in concert.” Collaboration, that’s what it’s all about when everyone has their hand on the rope.

On the other side? The work, meetings, decisions, feedback, communication, sweating the small stuff, all flowing from diverse perspectives. As long as it’s done together, everyone can be sure the results will speak for themselves. The lightbulb at the end of the rope is what everyone’s working in unison to illuminate.

Working in concert doesn’t just happen on its own. It takes an intentional approach focusing on clarity, inclusion, and learning to ensure that everyone’s pulling on the same rope, in the same direction. Everyone has the big picture in mind while also focusing on getting the things right.

That’s the spirit of the book we wrote. The cover also reflects the spirit we brought into working on this book: close collaboration across many timezones, telling our own stories, offering practical solutions to common problems that focus on the little details as much as they can help solve the bigger issues of a growing team or company.

The great news we’re thrilled to share today? Our book is published on April 8 2025 and is officially available for preorder!

What’s In The Book?

We wanted to tackle the most common issues that our clients are coming across as they’re scaling their organizations. These have been the very same struggles that we’ve had as we put on the founder hat years ago.

Here are a few of the things we discuss in the book:

Making decisions: We used to find ourselves at the center of every decision our teams wanted to make. Questions came to us all the time and we were all too obliged to answer them. It felt good to respond. We were helping, after all. But we became blockers. We got in the way. So we started creating simple ways to help our teams make decisions on their own.

Better meetings: So much time is spent in meetings while so little time is spent asking whether each is actually needed, whether it’s effective, or whether the right people are present. These are the questions we help you find answers to while offering simple and effective ways to structure meetings.

Improving communication: The cultural fabric of every organization is how well it communicates. That involves more than one person talking to another. It’s about how feedback is provided, how well it’s taken into account, how decisions are made, how bad news are communicated, or how you know whether you’re doing well or not. These are just a few examples of what constitutes communication in organizations. We cover many more angles in the book, offering actionable advice on how to improve each.

Feedback: Feedback is supposed to be a gift, and yet it rarely feels like one. The common frameworks in our industry tend to yield mildly useful advice, if any. We offer our own take on how to give and get meaningful feedback, including the challenges we’ve had to overcome with a Californian working with a German.

Simplicity is at the core of everything we cover. We always strive to avoid complex processes that keep people from doing their work, instead focusing on the smallest thing we can add to help unblock them. Instead of proposing large processes upfront, iteration is the key. Only add things when they’re truly needed.

Frameworks are the second key ingredient to our style of leadership and our coaching. A nod to our past in building software products, we focus on repeatability and scalability. The less effort we need to make in the future to process a similar situation, the better. Frameworks are our ways to approach that. We’re such big fans, we highlighted them throughout the book.

Relatability is important to us. We wanted to offer situations and solutions that we’ve experienced ourselves rather than draw from industry anecdotes. We wanted to talk about what worked for us and what didn’t. The book is grounded in our own journeys.

You can learn more about the full contents of the book on our dedicated book page. There you can also find a sample chapter and preorder the book. We’re thrilled to get it into your hands soon. Or go straight to one of these retailers:

We started this project back in 2020 and set out to build a book filled with timeless management advice. How do we know it is? We keep applying the same practices successfully with our clients over and over again.
